Throughout August

Have you ever wanted to go to a powwow, but are hesitant because you don’t know what to expect? Are you interested in learning more about the historical and cultural aspects of a powow? As an outsider are you concerned about coming across as ignorant or inconsiderate as a first-time visitor to such an important event?
In preparation for the upcoming UTTC International Powwow, MMPL is partnering with the Sacred Pipe Resource Center for a series of classes on the various cultures, traditions, and dances that are showcased at this annual powwow.
It is not required to attend all classes within the series, but each class will highlight a different feature of the powwow, so it will be worthwhile to attend all of them!
This three-part series is brought to you with support from the Northern Plains Heritage Area.
